The Young and the Restless is probably daytime's most somber, solemn drama. It's not wacky, like Santa Barbara, or outrageous like All My Children. Y&R is a show that takes itself seriously. And we all know the frenetic pace and demanding schedules soaps must maintain in order to churn out a new show every day, five days a week. So who could blame us for expecting, on a visit to the set, a group of harried actors, earnestly burying their noses in scripts, too preoccupied to be distracted from their work? Were we ever wrong....On screen, Roberta Leighton and Melody Thomas Scott play sisters tormented by Nikki's imminent death. Off screen, things weren't so dreary.
