How We Met

Now for the mushy stuff...

John and I met online one-day back in September, 01’. A mutual friend of ours (Vallo) gave John my screen name.

At first we mostly talked through emails, gradually went on to chatting with instant messenger, progressed to snail mail, exchanging pictures and then even phone calls every other day.

At this point John was stationed in Okinawa, near Japan. Serving the Country as a Marine.

It wasn’t before long that he asked me out on a coffee date to give us a chance to meet each other. I hardly knew anything about him at this point, but I decided to take that chance anyway. I know meeting people online isn’t exactly a smart thing to do, but look where it got me!

It was still 4 months until he came home on leave from Japan. In that time we got to know each other very well, and we became best friends to each other.

We counted down as the weeks passed, and before you knew it Christmas was only around the corner. We met at U.D.F. near my house on December 23rd of 2001.

I was extremely nervous, especially when he was late and all my friends tried to let me down the easy way when they thought he stood me up. At last he showed up, Drove to Dennys to grab a cup of hot chocolate, and then spent the rest of our date running around Cleveland in minus degree temperatures.

I’ll admit, I was afraid that John wouldn’t be who I had pictured in my mind, but I will honestly tell you he has been even more then I had imagined him to be.

He is my one and only, and he has made me the happiest person alive. Thank you to all of his friends and family. I know you miss him as much as I do. Thank you every one for making him who he is today. Thank you Vallo for introducing us.

Thank you John for loving me unconditionally. I love you!
