Day 12
Thursday November 18, 2021
Well this is it. The final day in town. Not even a full day. I have a red eye flight later tonight. In the mean time I've got all day to enjoy.

I slept most of the day away from pulling the all nighter last night. I got everything packed up and went to the casino. I don't very often play on my last day but the trip has been so good I wasn't worried about giving back the gains.

I bought in at the craps table. Not much happening until a local called “Terry” bought and was betting the dark side. Table was fairly cold and no one was hitting their points but, they were hitting other numbers. This guy wasn't afraid to make a bet with $200+ flats and laying $500+ odds. He was up a few thousand fairly quickly. Then it was his turn to shoot and he shot from the dark side. He proceeded to roll 7, 11, 3 and 7 on the come out roll with big money on the line. He finally set a point of 8, lays everything he's got left in odds and proceeds to roll an 8 three rolls later. He stormed off from the table and I had to finish his roll and got on a good run winning back everything I lost prior.

After I sevened out it was actually my turn to roll and I sucked. I gave up after this down just over $100.

I came back to the room, grabbed my stuff and loaded the car. I grabbed a sandwich at Capriotti's and ate it before I left.

On the way to the airport I gassed up the car and then went to return it. Everything went well there and I was on my way to the shuttle back to the airport.

With the extra trips I've taken and the extra flying I've done with year I actually got silver status with United Airlines so get to use the preferred check in area. No lines here and everything went well. I had put in for an upgrade to first class which I didn't get as I was #5 on the upgrade list. I was however able to upgrade to preferred seating and took 7C in the front row of coach. These seats are a bit nicer and have a bit more legroom. This was of course negated by a giant fucker in the middle seat and it was like sitting in a regular seat farther back.

Security was a breeze and other than one ass clown trying to smuggle a 1 liter bottle of water everyone seemed well behaved.

I had a few hours before my flight so I wandered around and actually played some penny games at the airport. I know they are awful as far as odds but I had a few nice hit and runs. By the time I was ready to board I made back most of what I lost on the craps table at GVR.

For a snack on the flight I grabbed a snack a Auntie Anne's Pretzels. They had these little pretzel wrapped hot dogs that were quite good but quite expensive. I'm definitely in the wrong line of work with the prices they charge.

When it was time to board I was in group 2 so got on after the pre boards and first class passengers.

I took my seat which was on the aisle and repeatedly got slammed by carry on bags during the rest of the boarding process. Folks, if you're carrying a shoulder bag, it hits every person that is already sitting down. Let's have the courtesy to carry those in front of your body while boarding as to not knock people out. This is one of the reasons why I rarely fly in an aisle seat.

I bought this ticket back in August for just $113. This was for regular economy , not that stupid basic economy crap that was actually $109.

This is flight 702 non stop to Newark with a scheduled flight time of 4 hours and 40 minutes. The standard announcements were made and the flight was only going to take 4:04.

I slept most of the flight home once I got comfortable enough. The next thing I knew were were on our final approach into Newark. We landed even earlier than anticipated which was fine with me.

I got right off the plane which was no big deal because I had to wait at baggage claim for my suit case which took quite a while. Then as a “priority” guest I see nothing coming down the conveyor but regular bags. So much for actually having status for priority baggage handing. The priority bags finally came out and I was on my way to the monorail back to the rental car lots.

I chose my car as soon as we landed and they had me set up in a Kia Forte. I booked this using a discount code through my job and got a base rate of $46 and $75 all in. The taxes and fees here in Newark have gotten obscene in the last year or so adding around 40% to the rates.

This car had 13,000 miles on it and was a little beat up on the outside but inside was fine. The ride back home was full of slow traffic as it was Friday during rush hour in the tri-state area. I made a few stops on the way home and ran a few errands along the way. I finally pulled into the driveway at 11:30am as another trip to Las Vegas came to an end even though I am still a registered guest at Green Valley Ranch.
