Welcome to the first trip of 2022. This is what I call a mini trip coming in at just 2 ½ days. The main reasons for this trip are a large amount of free play available and a fun dinner planned with some great friends. There won't be a ton of the usual stuff because time is short.
The drive to Newark was clear being a Sunday. I arrived to the parking garage got situated and hopped the monorail to the terminal.
With no luggage to check being such a short trip I checked in online and went right to security. This went fairly well. A bit of a clusterfuck but, not too bad. People were behaving for the most part. Probably in part because of the number of canceled flights the last few days due to a major nor'easter and they just wanted to get to where they were going.
I found my way to the gate which in an unusual turn of events was right past security instead of way down at the other end of the terminal. I waited for boarding to begin and surfed the net.
I booked this flight back on January 8th. Over the years I've accumulated a ton on miles on United being 7* and getting a lot of my airfare reimbursed combined with having the United Credit Card. I decided to use miles to book a first class ticket combined with cash and got a first class seat for $268 all in.
Boarding began and I took my seat 1A. This is flight 746 non stop to Las Vegas. We are scheduled to depart at 3:41pm and arrive in Las Vegas at 6:32pm with a flight time of 5 hours and 51 minutes. The usual announcement was made telling us it was only going to take 4:52.
Shortly after we took off lunch was served. We had a choice of chicken with southwestern rice or some vegetarian crap. While I'm glad that meals are back in first class they've been serving the same stuff all year. I went with the chicken.
After the meal I spent the rest of the flight sleeping because I was exhausted from working last night and only getting a few hours of sleep.
We landed at 6pm and taxied to the gate. I was one of the first off the plane. I hit a few slots along the way and popped one good and walked out of the airport up over $100.
After cashing the ticket I went right to the rental car shuttle because I had no luggage.
The wait for this was less than a minute.
Today's rental is with Avis. I booked this using a free day I had earned from previous rentals combined with a discount code through my job. I booked a full sized for a base rate of $35 and all in for $62.
My name was actually on the board when I arrived so I went right to my assigned Camry with 37,000 miles on it. I gave it quick inspection and headed to security and I was on my way.
With this being such a short trip I didn't need any survival items and headed right downtown to the Golden Nugget where I'd be staying for the next few nights.
I booked this on a mail offer that was good for 3 nights and $35 in free play. There is also a gift giveaway for a necklace that I don't really need or want. I actually did book all three nights because I have a red eye flight home on Tuesday night and it will be nice to have the room for the day.
When I arrived checking in was dead. I was given room 1251 in the Carson Tower. This is a king room with two nightstands, dresser, TV, small table and chairs and a make up area. The bathroom is basic with toilet, sink and tub. It has a view of the parking garage.
I threw my stuff in the room and went to Claim Jumper for a late dinner. I had the country fried steak. It had great flavor but was tougher than nails. While I was eating my friend Jim came by and hung out while I ate.
After I ate Jim left and I hit the casino. I don't play much here. Just enough to keep the room offers coming. I played a short pay multi line machine. On the 8th hand I landed a royal flush for the $1,000 hit. Not just a royal. A royal on a single card hold. A few hands later I got dealt quad kings. A bit of a roller coaster the rest of the time I played but not so bad I got crushed. I played a little more than I normally do here because I was up so much. I finally cashed out with a $1,200 win.
I ran the $35 free play through a short pay carnival game and turned it into $42 cash.
It was starting to get late and I was exhausted from the long travel and, along with knowing I needed to be up early to get in a full day of play tomorrow.
Total win/loss for the day + $1,346
Total Comps for the day $124
