Trip Report
June 24, 2023 - July 18, 2023
Welcome to the summer 2023 trip report. I haven't been to Las Vegas since the Christmas/Birthday trip so I'm looking forward to this one. I usually come out a bit earlier but this year is a little different. Things continue to change in town (thanks COVID) and I will continue to adjust. There will be a little less play than normal this trip as some of my favorite plays are now gone. This trip comes in at 24 days so plenty of time for fun. There will also be a few side trips this time around to. One to Laughlin and one to California where I will be going on a short 3 day cruise. Once again this trip report will be done in bullet point format with all of the important stuff but a lot less detail. It's time!
Day 1
Saturday June 24, 2023
- Picked up a rental car at Avis yesterday afternoon
- Reserved a mid sized car
- Using a discount code through work got it for $41 base/$55 all in
- They gave me a Chevy Malibu with 24,000 miles on it
- I worked last night so didn't get much sleep today
- Left the house around 6:30am
- I originally had a flight at 8:33pm but changed it last night
- Drive to Newark was smooth being a Saturday morning
- Returning the car went well
- Took the shuttle bus to the new A terminal and dropped off the suitcase
- Security was a breeze with TSA precheck except for one idiot
- I booked this flight back in April
- I booked a first class ticket for $593 one way
- This would be reimbursed by Caesars as my diamond elite trip
- When boarding started I took my seat 1A
- This is flight 1585 non stop to Las Vegas
- Scheduled to depart 9:56am and arrive at 12:27pm
- We left at 10:02am
- Breakfast was served
- The entree was eggs or crepes
- I chose the crepes with fruit, yogurt and a croissant
- After I ate I put the seat back and slept for the rest of the flight
- We arrived at 12:10pm
- Baggage was great
- As I came around the carousel my bag was there
- Newark should take a lesson from Vegas on this
- Next up was the shuttle to the rental car center
- I was once again booked with Avis using the same work discount
- I reserved a standard for $579 base/$911 all in
- My name wasn't on the board because I was 10 hours early
- I was assigned an Jeep Grand Cherokee with 25k miles on it
- I headed out to Henderson and Green Valley Ranch
- I booked this for 2 nights (staying for 1) with a mail offer
- The offer also included a $50 in free bets (one time use)
- Met Anne, Steve and Evelyn at the Food Court
- Went to Lunch with them at the Lucky Penny
- We split an order of Taquitos
- I ordered Crispy Chicken Sandwich
- Wasn't very crispy but was tasty
- We split a brownie
- Anne covered the tab with her comps
- Thanks for lunch Anne
- Checked into hotel
- Checking in was smooth
- No one was in line

- Not enough seating for a resort this large
- After pool time came to room and I got cleaned up
- For dinner went to Fatburger
- Nothing fancy, I prefer Five Guys
- Everyone left so I hit the casino
- Started off with dollar video poker
- Got crushed, no quads, 1 full house
- Dropped 5 bills on very little play
- Switched to craps
- Roller coaster session
- More vallies than peaks
