Words beginning with the letter W...
Wall
They are generally considered to be obstacles or sources of isolation or confinement. Your subconscious mind may be unable to convey guarded feelings, or is making attempts to point out your challenges. Climbing the wall suggests that you are getting prepared and are basically able to overcome your difficulties and/or challenges.
War
Many dreams about war, represent wars with self. It may be possible that you are not happy with some parts of yourself and in your dreams are rejecting that part of you. Several different parts of your personality may be fighting each other for control. At times we are faced with a situation in our life that requires us to be aggressive and to discover assertive solutions to our problems. If you are in that type of a situation currently, you may dream of war. It is common for war veterans to have dreams about war.
Water
It has three basic areas of meaning. Large bodies of water (see, ocean), usually represent our unconscious minds or soul experiences. Water symbolizes emotions (rough, smooth, clear, murky, etc.). Finally, Freud thought that since fluids are involved in sexual activities, at times water in our dreams has sexual connotations. See also Ocean, Rain, River
Waterfall
As mentioned in many dream symbols containing water, it generally represents the unconscious and the emotions. The waterfall is a symbol of positive energy in regard to cleansing of negative emotions and of psychological issues. Just a simple visualization or a day dream of standing in a waterfall, makes a person feel energized and refreshed. If the waterfall in your dream was overwhelming and too powerful for you to enjoy, it may represent emotional energy and unconscious drives that are currently "too much" for you to deal with effectively on a conscious level.
Waves
The waves of the ocean may represent emotional ups and downs. If you are currently experiencing a period of tranquillity and peace in your life, you may be dreaming about calm waters and gentle ocean waves. This dream suggests that you may be gathering energy and recharging emotionally. The more common dream is that of very violent and dangerous tidal waves. Tidal waves or tsunamis, suggest that you may be in a period of emotional upheaval. Anxiety, stress and unconscious materials may be coming to the surface and effecting your daily moods. Giant tidal waves from your dream may be symbolic of current emotional unhappiness and psychological stress, which are threatening to destroy you. The outcome of this dream could reveal to you how much strength you have to "ride" this storm. If you are not consumed by the tidal waves of your dream, be assured that you will survive the challenges.
Wedding
This dream may be a form of wish-fulfillment for some people. However, it usually symbolizes the joining of many parts of self. The coming together in a harmonious fashion of the may parts of your personality or psyche. The integration of the masculine, the feminine, the physical and the spiritual. From this point of view this is a positive dream. However, may cultures believe that this dream is a negative omen. That it generally represents the coming of grief and maybe death. Also the dream may symbolize a sweet, but very brief, interlude. Consider the many aspects of this dream before rushing to a conclusion about its meaning, especially the mood of the dream and your feelings upon awakening.
Weeds
Weeds represent neglect. Just like we must weed out the garden to have healthy plants, we need to weed out the negativity in our minds and lives. Weeding may mean letting go of stifling and useless thoughts and actions. As we do this, we free our mind and improve our relationships.
Whales
For most people, dreaming about whales is a pleasant experience. These huge water dwelling animals, may represent the degree of the connection that exists between our unconscious and conscious mind. They may symbolize the levels of our awareness, our perceptiveness, and our intuition. Some think that they represent our emotional power. If the ocean waters were turbulent, and the whale in your dream was unpredictable or on the attack, consider the emotional environment in your every day life. Under those circumstances, these large animals may represent an overwhelming emotional or psychological issue or problem. Also See: Dolphin
Witch
This dream symbol can be interpreted by examining the overall content and mood of the dream. The witch could represent evil and ugliness, or something more desirable -- like enchantment. The word witch is usually used to describe a mean and heartless person, and in your dream you may be making these associations in regard to yourself or someone that is important to you. A witch could also represent power, magic and goodness. Currently (as always) you can find books on "white magic" as well as much darker witchcraft. However, whether good or evil, the witch always tries to defy natural law and uses a short cut to accomplish a task. Ask yourself questions in regard to the general message in this dream. Is it about revealing evil or very negative characteristics, or about solving your problems and getting what you want out of life by using shortcuts. The most positive connotation of this dream could be that it encourages you to solve your difficulties by using your creativity and intuition, and brings you closer to finding that powerful and magical part of yourself.
Wind
Some people like a windy day! The force of the wind holds some clues to its meaning in your dream. The wind may represent changes in your life. The greater the force of the wind, the grater the change in your life. A very gusty wind could represent the stress and turmoil in your life, but also the energy that you need to make changes. Most people don't experience the sense of touch in their dreams. You may know that it is windy in your dreams, but rarely will you get pushed around by it. The sound of the wind and the movement of objects around you are probably what alerts you to the fact that there is wind in the dream, rather than a sensation of wind on your skin. The sound of the wind is considered by some to be special in the sense that it is a sound of nature, which could have spiritual significance.
Window
The window is a rich dream symbol. Its accurate interpretation can lead to awareness and an ability to better understand your outlook on life. If you are looking through the window, pay close attention at what you are looking at. Is it a beautiful landscape or a scenes dealing with an experience or a situation from your past? Looking through a window and seeing a beautiful landscape may represent your desire for greater satisfaction and more peace in your life. If you are seeing something familiar, you may be able to perceive the situation in a new way and gain some insight. Some say that a window may represent a time frame, a closed window -- a fear that you are unable to effectively communicate, and an opened widow may be symbolic of a desire for a new life. Windows in our houses allow us to see the world on the out side, the windows in our dreams may encourage us to better see the world within ourselves, as well as the world outside of ourselves.
Wings
In the United States (and maybe all around the world), there is a renewed interest in angels. People are thinking about them, surrounding themselves with images of them, and angels seem to have gained the respect and appreciation of the masses. One of their most valued characteristics are wings. Wings are associated with flying, which in turn is associated with freedom and the heavenly domain. Dreaming about wings suggests that you may be having a desire to "fly and be free". Possibly a desire to transcend any current difficulties and problems, or a desire to be "angelic." Consider the mood of your dream and what type of wings you were seeing. If they were animal wings, look up birds. Superstition based dream interpretation books say that if you hear gentle flopping of wings you will hear good news. However, loud and powerful flapping of wings is said to be a warning against illegal or immoral activities -- specifically those in which money is involved. Also See: Flying.
Wolves
Depending on the details of the dream, and the dreamers impressions or feelings about wolves, this beautiful animal could symbolize good or evil. They could represent aggression, unmerciful attack, sneakiness and ferocious appetites. In some cultures, wolves represent feminine energies and in others masculine. In the Native American culture and tradition, the wolf is a symbol of a mysterious and wonderful teacher. Wolves are considered to be powerful guides, who offer wisdom and enlightenment. When interpreting your dream, go by your feelings in it. If you were not afraid, but mesmerized than give your dream positive meaning and accept its message.
Woman
Women or woman generally represent intuition, creativity, nurturing and love. They can represent the "gentler" side of things, or depending on the details of the dream, could represent some negative attributes. These negative perceptions which are symbolized by woman are physical and emotional weakness, gossip, martyrdom, passivity, moodiness, temptation and guilt. The content of the dream is to be considered, as well as the emotional tone. If the dream is sexual in nature, look up sex. If the woman in your dream was a stranger and you are a man, she could be symbolic of your feminine side, or your attitude about woman. If you are a woman, this stranger may be symbolic of different parts of your character or personality. Also See: People, Old Woman, Mother
Woods/forest
They may represent your unconscious or your "mental space". If you are lost in the woods it may be a reflection of feelings of confusion and lack of clear direction.
Worms
What connotations come to mind when someone is called a worm? When we are dreaming about these animals, we may be reflecting on the more negative aspects of our own, or someone else's personality. Worms are usually associated with weakness and sneakiness. They are blind and generally feed on decaying matter. To associate these characteristics with any individual, including yourself, indicates that you are seeing a very negative side of them and have a generally low opinion of them (or yourself). If you are dreaming about earth worms, the connotation is more positive, as they make contributions to the general health of our environment. Old, superstition based dream interpretations say that dreaming about worms is a warning about poor health.
