Yeshua's Light
Gifts: The Oneness of HaShem (YHVH, G-d)
- You shall KNOW HaShem El-haynu is our G-d and this shall be upon your heart (Ex.20.2, Deut.5.6, Cat.31, 35, 46, 48, 286). The Catechism explains this comes from “through His works, by the light of human reason, even if this knowledge is often obscured and disfigured by error”, Cat.286. It is faith that overcomes these human foibles.
- G-d's Name is holy it is not to be profaned and our Catechism extends this to not only the many attributes of G-d, but also to His servants in Heaven (Lev.22.32, Cat.2142-2145) see The Noahite
- That HaShem El-haynu is Echad (One), a complete Unity (Deut.6.4, Cat.200-202) see The Oneness of G-d
- To love HaShem with all your heart, soul, and strength and this includes love of neighbor as self (Deut.6.5, Lev.19.18, Mk.12.29-30, Cat.201, 2055). Yeshua places these together, so we should also do.
- To fear/adore HaShem, serve Him and cleave to Him and by His Name shall you swear (Deut. 6.13, 10.20, Cat.2096, 2150) Note: our Church defines “fear” as “adore” because true adoration is humble and rooted in the essence of the Act of Contrition which includes fear, but also shame (“but most of all because I offended you O’L-rd My G-d Who are Good and worthy of all my love”).
- We are to be Kadosh as He is Kadosh and abide His commandments and walk in His ways (Deut.28.9, Lev.19.2, Matt.5.28 Cat. 2811); and this is further extended to His Son’s Mitzvah to love as He loved, Jn.3.17, 15.12-13, 1Jn.2.10 (Cat.2812).
