The Light of Jesus

Still On Consuming The Blood

When Jesus first said we were to eat His body and blood the disciples responded, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" We suspect they had Deut.12.23 on their minds, so why didn't Jesus correct their understanding if it was wrong? We already explained this was because He was referencing a Spiritual reality hard to understand however why is the spiritual body and blood of Jesus different than the one G-d forbids? The answer we believe lies, in part in the original commandment, which G-d gave to Noah:

"Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. For your lifeblood I will surly require a reckoning; of every beast I will require it and of man . . ." Gen.9.4-5.

In the blood is the life of that which we kill, and if we consume its life, surely we consume its death. All living things born of the flesh are terminal, all except one: Jesus the Christ. He came forth from the Spiritual realm and preexisted His earthly body. This is what He meant by "It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail . . ." He was eternal from His beginning and this is why when we consume His body and blood we consume the Life, not the death (although we remember His death because in giving His earthly life we all were welcomed into His kingdom through faith). This is why He referenced the resurrection- through it He conquered death!

And if we, in true faith, eat His Body and drink His Blood then we will abide because our lives are not our own, they were ransomed for a price. But on the other hand, if we are not in faith but in mortal sin, then the cup does not sanctify - it tears us under:

"Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the L-rd in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the L-rd . . .For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many are weak and ill, and some have died." 1Cor. 11.27-30

Can a mere symbol kill? Do symbols destroy the flesh? Was the Bread of Presence to be a mere symbol where only the priests were to eat of it (the exception was when David and his men who journeyed with him, ate the bread because there was no other food available and they did not defile themselves with women- 1Sam. 21.1-6). Only a spirit of the living G-d born out through His only Son in both body and blood are Holy and to approach the altar of the G-d Most High in an evil state is to profane His Holy Name.

"For from the rising of the sun to its setting My Name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to My Name, and a pure offering; for My Name is great among the nations, says the L-rd of hosts. But you profane it when you say that the L-rd's table is polluted, and the food for it may be despised." Mal.1.11-12.

The word for offering used above is minhah; it is used to denote meat offerings, cereal offering, tributes, presents, gifts, sacrifices, and oblations. It is used many times in the Torah and in sacrifices it is the word G-d had Moses use for the offering of first fruits during Pentecost (Shavout). Even more interesting is its use in Is.66.20-21:

"And they shall bring all your brethren from all the nations as an offering to the L-rd, upon horse, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon dromedaries, to My Holy Mountain Jerusalem, says G-d, just as the Israelites bring their cereal offering in a clean vessel to the house of the L-rd. And some of them also I will take for priests and for Levites, says the L-rd."

What were trying to say is that the offering in Malachi was no mere symbol. It was pure in the Love the Goyim offered in remembrance of the Son. It was His Spiritual Body and Blood poured out for the Goyim (the Gentile nations). This is why when Judah condemned it they profaned HaShem and why He brought down upon Judah the events of 70CE.

Will He condemn all who do not understand the Eucharist? We think a better question would be- should we have our hearts right with the L-rd and be open to His will and guidance in all things when we desire His Presence both in Word and Spirit? Therefore we ask you to take this back to G-d and let Him reveal whether we speak of truth so you will have a clear, concise and irrefutable answer from the L-rd Himself.
