From History of Susquehanna County; Emily Blackman; Chap. 16; In Spring of 1804 John Bard and Zebulon Deans came in on foot from Lebanon Windham County Conn. Then they returned to Conn. but brought in their families in the Fall. The Bard family stopped at the house of Walter Lathrop. The Deans stopped at the house of Thomas Crocker. Both began to immediately roll up log houses." Son James mentioned. The family of Mr. Deans consisted in 1804 of his wife, (a sister of Thomas Crocker) and two sons, Orimel and James, the latter 10 years old the day they reached Great Bend; and two daughters. Zebulon Deans was a carpenter and joiner and built the first Presbyterian church in Montrose. Zebulon was member of church til 1848 when he died, ae 78 years. His wife Olive died 1851, ae 80 years.
