Conan the Adventurer

Immortal!

The character, Conan, was created by Robert E. Howard, a writer living in Cross Plains, Texas, in the 1930s.

Conan

is born and raised in the country of Cimmeria. He has many adventures, slays many foes, makes a few enemies along the way. But, eventually, he claims the throne of King of Aquilonia. Later, an evil priest named Orastes conspires with some foes of Conan to raise, from the dead, the 3000 year-old sorcerer, Xaltotun, and with his help overthrow Conan. It is during this adventure, penned in the greatest sword-and-sorcery novel I have ever read, The Hour of the Dragon (a.k.a. Conan the Conqueror) that Conan meets Zenobia, a slave girl who frees him and later becomes his Queen when he re-takes the crown.

But the adventures of Conan are many and do not end with Conan the Conqueror!

His courage being his greatest asset and his great physical strength his second, Conan's third defense against the world lay in his choice of weapons. When reading the Conan saga, many images of Conan will come to mind but many readers agree that no artist has captured Conan better than the legendary Frank Frazetta. Frazetta's Conan is a hugely-muscled, dark, brooding warrior who lives his fullest in conflict! In a battle with Conan, one ends up vanquished, living and perhaps a friend of Conan or one gets to explore the " undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns "! As Thutothmes sa ys, in The Hour of the Dragon, " Death is the portion of madmen ."
