The Descendants of Henry Doude

This project has very much been pieced together like a quilt. Each generation has been carefully "stitched" together with love and respect for all that "has been" and for all that is "to be".

GENERATION 1

HENRY DOUDE, with his wife, Elizabeth, arrived in CT in 1639 from Kent County, England and settled in Guilford, CT. Henry died August 31, 1668; Elizabeth, his wife, died in October, 1684.

Jan. 2, 1797, Rebecca "BECKA" Grannis (Shepherd), b. August 25, 1766, Cheshire, CT, daughter of Caleb and Patience (Bunnell) Grannis, d. May 11, 1850, PA

Jesse Doud was baptized January 19, 1755 by Rev. Mr. Camp in the Christ Episcopal Church of Middletown, CT. He served in the Revolutionary War and in later years collected a pension due to his service. Jesse and his family resided on a small farm between Wells and Poultney, VT, near Lake St. Catherine. After the death of her husband, Rebecca resided, and died, with her son, Jesse Granger Doud, on Doud Hill, Wayne TWP, Erie Co., PA. She is buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Warren Co., PA.
