WESTERN NEW YORK STATE

In most cases, when someone hears we live in NEW YORK they make the connection to "The Big Apple" ( NY CITY). Yes that big bustling metropolis is a part of New York State, but to my mind and many other New Yorkers, it is hardly the best part of New York. So Let me give you a Quick tour of my corner of New York .
For anyone looking for my area of the state, Buffalo is the closest large city. Not having been a city dweller in my life, I prefer the rural settings that are so abundent in our state. Still there is always those times when a person needs to get out and enjoy some Top Notch entertainment.
Buffalo has been described as a City with a small town personality. In truth it is a nice compact city, where 20 minuets drive in any direction will have you out of the Urban area and back into more rural settings. That perhaps is one of the city's charms.
So in the mood for culture? Well a visit to The Albright-Knox Art Gallery will provide you the chance to see paintings by the great masters and more contempory artists such as Andy Warhol. Perhaps an evening full of great classical music is more your style? The Buffalo Philharmonic is a world Class orchrestra, which also boasts a pops series under the direction of the one and only "Doc Severinsen" of the Tonight Show .
Are you more interested in Sports? Well not only are there hundreds of venues for the novice of any sport to hone their skills, but Buffalo is home to the Buffalo Bills one of the premier Football teams in the NFL. Also the Buffalo Sabresprovide some of the Hottest Hockey action on ice, with olympic Gold Medal winner Dominick Hasek in the goaltenders spot. Buffalo also has several indoor professional sports teams including the Indoor Soccer"Buffalo Blizzard of the MISL. Is speed more your style? Fast track action can be found at Holland Speedway where the summer nights are filled with the roar of stock car races.
Is History your area of interest? Well the Western New York Area is full of facinating historical sites. From the Theodore Roosevelt Inagural Site, to the walls of Fort Niagara where many a bloody battle was fought during our stuggle for independence, New york is a place of history.

Buffalo also has many family attractions that are sure to be a hit with all ages. Darien Lake Campground & amusement park is a fun filled spot to spend a day or full week riding rides, seeing concerts and camping. The Nation's 3rd oldest zoological Gardens are found at the Buffalo Zoo. Bring the family and a good appitite to Buffalo's premier outdoor festival, the Taste of Buffalo, a chance to try some of the areas finest culinary treats. So if you are coming for a visit, check the Weather because if nothing else, the weather is very changeable.
