Yesterday

It's a beautiful planet we live on today,
But what did it look like yesterday?
Another highway built,
Another tree cut down,
Signs and buildings
Going up all around.
The stacks pour man-made clouds
Into the clear blue sky,
There's acid in the rain,
I wonder why.
The water is poison,
The air is filth,
Do we have a conscience?
Do we feel any guilt?
A species dies every day,
Whose planet is it anyway?
We alter nature
To fit our need
Are we stupid?
Or is it greed?
The landfills are full,
The rainforests leaving.
Mother Nature is crying and grieving.
We've raped our planet
For all she had
And never gave any back
Is our home the enemy?
Cause we're on the attack
How much longer
Will she take this pillage
Before she wreaks havoc
On every village
It's a beautiful planet we live on today
