Please help me locate information on my biological father...

(Please read whole page before sending email)

On this page, I hope to provide you with enough information regarding what I have done in my search. Most of this I have done myself. For I do not have the money to hire a Private Investigator, or a "Locator". There are have been times that I felt discouraged, so I "put the books down" for a while. But each time I get back into it, I find more information out.

I am asking for your help here, because I feel that all other avenues in my search are coming to an end. And if I provide you with what I have done so far, maybe you can offer some help as to where I should go next.

It is important for me to find this information because my mother passed away at the age of 39. And from the information that I have found, Charles B. Stevens, my father passed away at an early age as well. Of which does not look good for me, or my three children.

In the tables below, I have information in a "color code" for easier reference for you. It goes as follows...

Green is places I requested information from.

Yellow is KNOWN information.

Phoned Aunt

She told me that my biological fathers' name was Charles Stevens. Went by the nickname of "Chuck". He and my mother attended Indiana Barbering College together in the years of 1965-66.

12

Phoned other relatives and friends of my mother.

They said the same thing. But some of them also stated that she was a very secretive person. So she did not speak of it often.

Sent letter to Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

10/94- Received letter from the Office Administrator of IN Prof. Lic. Agcy. He said that he was unable to find any information on Charles.

Went on vacation to Indiana. While there, I visited Indiana Barbering College. Spoke with the Director...

She told me that she remembers my mother. I told her that I was searching for my biological father. Showed her my baby book with the picture in it. She said his name was Charles B. Stevens. That the three of them attended the college at the same time. She asked me to give her a couple of days, and she would "see what she could do". Then she would call me.

The very next day, she phoned me with the following information:

Name: Charles B. Stevens

Nickname: Chuck

DOB: January 30,1938

Previous Address': 1616 Penn St Indianapolis, IN and also 8285 East St RT 46 Bloomington, IN

 May 21

 June 24

 Sent letters to:

Indiana Vital Records- to request a copy of his birth and death records.

June 28- Letter back requesting me to please call them. So, I spoke to a lady there. She stated that I could not have a copy of his records due to the fact that I had "no proof" that he was my biological father.

In 1998, I had gone and visited some message boards, left messages. Received no replies.

So then I found some chat rooms on Genealogy. I went into one of them. Someone asked me what he or she could do for me. I proceeded to let them know of my situation, and gave them details as to what I had done so far (above). The person then said to me "This story is nothing but a lie! Leave this room immediately! And do not return here!" Well, "one" could imagine how I felt at that moment. I had never felt so discouraged, yet outraged! So, I left the room, never went back.

Due to that, I put down my books for quite sometime.
