I have simply wanted an object to crave - Alanis Morissette "Uninvited"

BEFORE IT WAS

It was space
before it was matter
It was water
before it was rain
It was change
before it was motion
It was breath
before it was soul
It was consciousness
before it was life
It was God
before it was known

FORGIVENESS

If you don't learn how to forgive,
You have not learned yet how to live;
To Karma will you still be bound,
The wheel will bring you back around.

You tie the wrongs around your neck,
Your hatred does your own life wreck;
No sweetness ever in your soul,
The while you play the martyred role.
Perhaps your condemnation's wrong,
Or else it's lingered much too long;
Examine your position well,
And free your anger from its cell.

Reflect there may be some excuse,
Remember all your own abuse;
So give each one another chance,
It's your own life you will enhance.

A Friend

Is a person you can trust, who
won't turn away from you.
Will be there when you really
need someone, and will come
to you when they need help.
Will listen to you even when
they don't understand or
agree with your feelings. Will
never try to change you, but
appreciates you for who you
are. Doesn't expect too much
or give too little. Is someone
you can share dreams, hopes,
and feelings with. Is a person
you can think of and
suddenly smile. Doesn't have
to be told that they are
special, because they know
you feel that way. Will accept
your attitudes, ideas, and
emotions, even when their
own are different. Will hold
your hand when you're
scared. Will be honest with
you even when it might hurt,
and will forgive you for the
mistakes you make.
Shares
responsibility when you have
doubts. Always remembers
the little things you've done,
the times you've shared, and
the talks you've had. Will
bend over backwards to help
you pick up the pieces when
your world falls apart. Is one
of life's most beautiful gifts.

GOD MUST HAVE KNOWN.....

God must have known there would be times
We'd need a word of cheer
Someone to praise a triumph
Or brush away a tear.

He must have known we'd need to share
The joy of "little things"
In order to appreciate
The happiness life brings.

I think he knew our troubled hearts
Would sometimes throb with pain
At trials and misfortunes
Or some goals we can't attain.

He knew we'd need the comfort
Of an understanding heart
To give us strength and courage
To make a fresh, new start.

Prayer

Oh Dear Lord so high above
Let me tell you of this man I love
Mark is the man I love you see
He means all the world and is all to me
Wonderful things are all he does
The greatest man there ever was
A real great guy to have around
It's happiness with him that I've found
And oh dear Lord, the way he walks,
The way he smiles, the way he talks
Keep us together day & night
Never from each others sight
And oh dear Lord I pray to thee
Let this wonderful man Mark, forever love me.....

The Legend of the Dogwood

An old and beautiful legend has it that, at the time of the crucifixion, the dogwood was comparable in size to the oak tree and other monarchs of the forest. Because of its firmness and strength it was selected as the timber for the cross, but to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree. Sensing this, the crucified Jesus in his gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all said to it: "Because of your sorrow and pity for My sufferings, never again will the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a cross. Henceforth it will be slender, bent and twisted and its blossoms will be in the form of a cross, two long and two short petals. In the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints brown with rust and stained with red and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see this will remember."

EXTRA PRAYER When the world falls down around you And a prayer will see you through, Say an extra prayer for someone Who may need it more than you. For who knows what hearts are breaking In the silence of the night? Just that extra prayer you whisper May help someone see the light! Every time you help a stranger With an extra prayer - or two - You are building secret blessings That will all come back to you!

HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE I was walking down lifes highway a long time ago. One day I saw a sign that read, "Heaven's Grocery Store." As I got a little closer the door came open wide and when I came to myself, I was standing inside. One handed me a basket and said, "My child, shop with care." Everything a Christian needed was in that grocery store; and all you couldn't carry you could come back for more. First I got some Patience, Love was in the same row, further down was Understanding, you need that everywhere you go. I got a box of wisdom, a bag or two of Faith. I just couldn't miss the Holy Spirit, for it was all over the place. I stopped to get some strength and Courage to help me run the race. By then my basket was getting full, but I remembered I needed some grace. I didn't forget Salvation, for Salvation was free. So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me. Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill, for I thought I had everything I needed to do my Master's Will. When I went up the aisle I saw Prayer and I just had to put that in, for I knew when I stepped outside; I would run right into sin. Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf, Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself. Then I said to the Angel, "Now, how much do I owe?" He just smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go." Again I smiled at him and said, "How much do I owe?" He smiled again and said, "My Little Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill A Long Time Ago."

Don't Quit When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, you must - but don't you quit Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up, though the pace seems slow - You might succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt - And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit. -- Anonymous
