Cabeza de Vaca (1991)......Directed by Nicolás Echevarría An international award winning saga of old Mexico. In 1528, a Spanish expedition founders off the coast of Florida with 600 lives lost. Juliette is a pretty, 16-year-old Cuban living in Havana. As a child, her father left for the United States, hoping that his wife and daughter would one day join him there. His wife, however, committed suicide shortly after and Juliette, left with her grandmother, fell into tourist prostitution. Although she obviously misses her father, Juliette insists she does not want to see him again. During a video shoot, Juliette meets Fabiola, a model who has also lost her father. Striking similarities between them draw them together instantly. Fabiola decides to help Juliette by leaving for New York in search of her friend's father.
