Movie My Vote* My Comments
A Bug's Life
9
I liked this one as much as I liked Antz. This one is for the kids as well as the adults.
A Soldier's Sweetheart
9
A different kind of Vietnam story. A young medic in a remote hilltop medic unit decides to bring his all American girl girlfriend over from the states. Right there you know there's going to be trouble, right? But, I won't tell you what kind of trouble, you'll have to watch this one and find out for yourself. I'll tell you though, it wasn't what I was expecting.
Antz
9
I'm not usually into animated movies, but I liked this one. I enjoyed every bit of the visuals and the "acting," although, I had to endure a room full of bored, screaming, crying and whining kids to see it. Please, please parents, leave the kids home with a sitter for this one, this one is for you, not them! The humor was much beyond a child's comprehension.
Armageddon
8
Great action! I liked this movie, the visuals and action left Deep Impact in the dust.
Blade
9
Action! This was an action-packed ultimate vampire movie! Snipes gave an excellent performance as Blade (the daywalker), the vampire hunting half-human half-vampire. Very entertaining, and well worth the ticket price.
Blues Brothers 2000
7
Almost as good as the first one! For those old enough to remember John Belushi, you’ll know what I mean when I say I missed him.
City of Angels
8
Creative and interesting! Okay, so some don’t get it, but I did, and I liked it. It might even make you cry.
Deep Impact
5
Boring! Some people loved this one, but I was disappointed and bored. The trailers hyped it up, but I was let down by it.
Doctor Dolittle
9
Absolutely hilarious! I was on the floor laughing with this one! Eddie Murphy as Doctor Dolittle and Chris Rock as (the voice of) Rodney the guinea pig were non-stop funny!
Elizabeth
9
This movie had so much intrigue that I'll have to see it again just to catch it all. It made me feel like I was right there watching history unfold.
Enemy of The State
9
A thrilling action movie. The acting of Smith and Hackman was great.
Ever After
(A Cinderella Story)
9
Wonderfully done! Not just another Cinderella story, a great story! I really enjoyed this one, the acting, story and scenery were great!
Forces of Nature
7
Bullock and Affleck did a good job, but somehow this movie just did not live up to my expectations.
Game, The
9
A fast paced thriller. This one kept me guessing right to the end.
Godzilla
7
Great effects! The plot was okay, but the visuals were great! But, did they have to kill him!?!?…
Holy Man
6
This one wasn't what I was expecting. I expected humor, but I only got a few sparse laughs. Mostly, I got the feeling they were trying to give me a moral lesson.
Hope Floats
9
Well done! This movie was very well made, great acting and a good story line kept me interested. I wasn’t disappointed.
I'll Be Home For Christmas
9
It put me right in the mood for Christmas. As usual for Christmas movies, this one shows a lesson to be learned.
Lethal Weapon 4
9
Classic Mel Gibson and Danny Glover! I was happy to see that Pesci's and Russo's scenes were kept to a minimum since they get on my nerves. I was surprised to see that Chris Rock's part wasn't much. Great action and all the usual stuff make this more like Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2 (I didn't like LW3), and that's the way I like it!
Lost in Space
7
Good! I was afraid I’d be bored with this one, but I wasn’t. It’s a good movie all in all.
Man in The Iron Mask, The
8
Interesting and captivating! I liked this one all around: great acting, good action and a good plot. Yeah, I know people are tired of Leonardo, but I think he did a great job in this one.
Matrix, The
9
Great special effects! A mind trip, literally! So, sit back and get plugged in because you might be dreaming--or you might not! Keanu looked as good as ever here.
Message in a Bottle
9
A slow and gentle movie, a true romance with a tear-jerker ending. I loved the movie but didn't like the way they ended it.
Negotiator, The
9
Samuel L. Jackson gave a great performance, as always.
Odd Couple II, The
7
Like an old comfortable shoe! If you like Matthau and Lemmon like I do, you’ll love this one!
Out of Sight
4
Huh, what!?! I didn’t get it! This movie was so hyped up, I was really let down. Of course, I like Clooney, but the rest is just blah. I couldn’t follow the plot (was there one!?!) because they kept jumping between the past, present and future, and even, apparently, a dream scene.
Patch Adams
9
A touching and utterly delightful true story.
Payback
6
This was very violent, another movie that glorified criminal activity. If it weren't for the fact that Mel was in it, I'd give it less than a six. Not my type of movie.
Rush Hour
9
I've seen Jackie Chan's other movies, and honestly, I was bored. I had nothing against him personally, but the movies just seemed to be corny and never ending. I was wary about seeing this one. I was very glad I did though. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It had the usual kidnapper/hero plot with the cop theme, but I really liked the way it was put together. Way to go Jackie! Now you've finally got it the way we want to see it! Chris Tucker was wonderful as well. I really enjoyed this pairing and hope that they will make a sequel. The length of the fight scenes was kept down so that the audience just got the intense blast of Jackie’s fancy footwork, and the dialogue was witty and entertaining. These two gentlemen seem to have a good rapport, and the chemistry really came off well in the movie. This was one of my favorite movies this year! ('98)
Saving Private Ryan
Hits hard! I can't even begin to rate this one, I mean, what would I compare it to? I've seen a lot of "war" movies, but not one like this. They said they made it "true to life," and I believe it. Not many movies can upset me, but this one did. It's not just the blood and guts (although there are lots of that, so if you're squeamish, I wouldn't recommend this one) it's the power of the movie itself.
Shakespeare in Love
10
Witty, charming and romantic! A wonderful movie!
Siege, The
8
What’s this movie about? Fear, power and what people do when their fears control them. Also, it is a lesson in how history repeats itself (in more ways than one). There’s even a mention in this movie about how Japanese Americans were held in detention camps during WWII. This isn’t the kind of movie where you leave the theater happy that the good guy won, but rather the kind where you leave still trying to put all the pieces together, still trying to figure out what they were trying to tell you. After seeing this movie, I started thinking about how Hollywood plays on our societal fears in the plots of movies. Look at the 80’s. What were we afraid of? The Russians and being nuked. Our fears were of being overrun by Russians or being hit with nuclear weapons, as evidenced by movies like Red Dawn and The Day After. Now, in the 90’s, what are we afraid of? Everybody and being struck by asteroids. The reoccurring theme is that we’re still afraid of people and deadly projectiles.
Sliding Doors
9
A wonderfully done movie. I really liked the duplicity of the plot.
Soldier
8
I liked this one merely for the entertainment value. I mean, the thought of anyone taking babies and raising them to be cold, heartless killing machines is disturbing, to say the least. But, if you can get past that, the movie had lots of action, and Russell's virtually silent performance was very good.
Sphere
6
Not what it could have been! This one left me as empty as that sphere! They could have done more with it. It was just flat!
Star Trek Insurrection
9
I liked this one as much as I enjoyed all the other Star Trek films.
Titanic
10
The best movie I’ve seen in awhile! I know, you’ve all heard enough about this one, so I’ll let it ride.
U.S. Marshals
8
I liked it for the action. Of course, it's the usual wrongly accused person on the lam, but I enjoyed it.
Virus
7
This was like a combination of Terminator and Aliens without the success of either one.
Wedding Singer, The
8
I got a kick out of this one! It was funny, and I knew all of the songs in it. It was just a fun movie to watch.
Zorro
9
Excellent! This one was a fun action movie! Great acting all around and of course, great action! I totally enjoyed this one, the plot was the usual good guys win, but with a bit of a twist. A must see movie indeed!

*On a Scale of 1-10 (one being worst-ten being best)
