Chapter 1

Later that evening, Sara was sitting down with her family at the dinner table. Her light brown hair was parted in the middle and her highlights were the only thing you could see when she put her face down. "So anyway, I had the BEST day today!" Donna started. "Oh?" her mother look up, obviously not surprised. "Anyway, I got an A on my Math and Latin test, I was elected president of my class...and.....". Sara looked up at the ceiling feeling tears come to her eyes. Oh God, now what? "And Mark asked me out!!" Donna almost yelled triumpahntly.

Sara ran to her room and slammed the door shut. She had enough of this from her family--they were perfect and she was well..not. She had no idea what to do and she felt to horribly alone. After about 45 minutes, she heard a door open and smelled her mom's perfume come onto her bed. She didn't bother to look up--Sara wasn't sure if she was introuble, but she knew she had to leave--she was terribly unhappy. Always in competion with her horribly perfect sister and angry at her family.

"Sara, honey", her mother started. "We're not stupid or anything, it's obvious to us that you are unhappy here. What can we do to help you feel better?" "Nothing!" Sara yelled and threw her head back into the pillow. "I have an idea" her mother said, with a slightly brighter tone in her voice. "How about you stay with your Laura and Johnathan, your godparents, in Tulsa?" Suddenly Sara had a slight epiphany--maybe this was the ticket out of unhappiness.....?
