Lynch at CBGS's

When I last heard Lynch they were playing in an aluminumn sided Brooklyn bar, that would have been better suited to host an Americian Legion pot luck dinner. Lynch grew on me, despite a subpar sound system. So, stumbling across their pre-Fleadh CBGB's show on Friday night was certainly a treat. The CB's system had no trouble harvesting the Vine sound riot, which from the get go was tastefully abrasive and unrelenting.

In their CBGB's debut , the all smiles Vine seemed a natural fit at this most legendary of Rock venues, claiming the stage with an astronaut's ardor, spiking his country's flag into the moon. Vine sailed weightlessly through four quick, punk-esque numbers, then rounded off their set with longer tunes like "Radio Tower," the anthemic "Family Funeral" and "Spencer's Song," A tribute to Spencer Andrea. Andrea was Lynch's original lead guitarist, who succumed to habitual drug abuse this past spring. The garage-a- delic homage--though an explosvie arrangement--brought a somber lull over an otherwise high energy set.
