Parents Too Over-Protective
My problem is that my girlfriend's parents are really over
protective. They wont leave us alone for 2 minutes. They are driving me
nuts. I really care about my girl friend and don't want to lose her.
ADVISOR REPLIES:
Why do you think you'll lose her if her parents are overprotective?
Please don't tell me you'd break up with her because of parents. If you
really care about her, you should be supportive (afterall, I'm sure
she's not too thrilled with their behavior either). Don't try to
encourage her to convince her parents to change their ways, that's
something she should handle on her own. Just be there for her and let
her know that you want to be where ever she is, parents and all.-Erin
If you really care for your girlfriend and don't want to lose her then
her parents shouldn't bother you that much. I guess you're just going
to have to bear through it. The one way you can get around it is by
going to your house more often. If her parents are against that, go out
like to the park where you can be alone.-

Who do you think you will lose you girlfriend to- her parents? If you really and truly care for her, you will understand that her PARENTS, as well as you, don't want to lose her. Accept this fact and also understand that dating this girl might be putting you two out on a leash with a very short cord. If you think it will be affective, have your girlfriend talk to her parents about letting her grow up a little but don't pressure her to do so. Best of luck.
