Geraldine Estelle Halliwell was born on August 6, 1972 in Watford, England. She grew up poor in a small house on the edge of town. Her family was very low on money so she never got to take dance lessons, the one thing she had always wanted. At the age of 18 she posed topless for Magazines such as Hussler and Playboy. Then one day she saw an add in "The Stage" looking for ambitious young women of the ages of 18-25. Geri auditioned and made it. She earned the nickname of Ginger Spice that became known worldwide. For the next 2 years, her and the other 4 girls produced music, made a movie, toured the world, sold tons and tons of merchandise. Everyone thought Geri was on top of the world. Then on May 31st, 1998 a statement came that shocked the world. It is as follows.
STATEMENT FROM GERI HALLIWELL
This message is for the fans.
Sadly, I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls.
 
This is because of differences between us.
I'm sure the group will continue to be successful and I wish them all the best.
I have no immediate plans.
I wish to apologize to all the fans and to thank them and everyone who's been there.

We are upset and saddened by Geri's departure but we are very supportive in whatever she wants to do.
The Spice Girls are here to stay - see you at the stadiums!

Friendship never ends!
She's back! No, she's not a Spice Girl but she's gone solo. On May 10, 1999 Geri released her first solo single called "Look At Me". It is the first single off of her solo album called "Schizophrenic". So far it has been getting lots of airplay and the video is doing quite well also. Here is the track listing for her new CD.
