I could go on forever writing Green Day lyrics cause they are all pretty cool, but I don't know how many people are really interested in lyrics.

A VERY SHORT HISTORY OF THE BAND

Green Day was formed in the late 1980's in Berkley,California. They did not always go by the name Green Day. Their first name was Sweet Children. They changed their name to Green Day prior to the release of their debut album 39/Smooth.39/Smooth was not released on a major label and it was only successful locally. In 1992 Green Day relesed their second albumKerplunk!This album too, did not give Green Day world wide recognition. In 1994 Green Day releasedDookie on a major label and at this time they became an international success. Their songs were repeatedly played on the radio almost to the point where they were over played. They were on the cover of many music magazines.And they made appearances on some shows. At the same time Offspring had released Smash. It was almost like a competition between the two bands because both were so popular.One magazine even had a cover with Green Day and Offspring saying:"Green Day VS. Offspring.Who are the real punks?"In 1995 Green Day released Insomniac which surprisingly, was not as popular asDookie.The songs off that album got a lot less air play and it did not stay on the best-seller for as long asDookie. Green Day released their fifth ablum Nimrod last month. It is doing pretty well so far. It sounds much more like Dookie than Nimrod.The first single from Nimrod is "Hitchin' A Ride".Nimrod is my favorite Green Day album. They are curently on tour in suport on the album. Their show in Toronto sold out in under 5 minutes!!I will be going to that show. I also saw them in concert 2 years ago on their Insomniac tour.It was an awsome concert. If you are a Green Day fan and they are doing a concert in your area you should go!!I also recommend their new album. It is great!
