Fire Company Exhibit contains photos and items of some of the fire engines manufactured in Seneca Falls. Seneca Falls was known for a brief time as the Fire Engine Capital of the World due ti the number of companies that constructed engines and pumpers. The Silsby Company was the largest and their steam pumping engines were used all over the United States. Hand pumped engines were also made by Rumsey Pump Co. The Silsby Company was purchased by American LaFrance of Elmira around 1910 and transferred there.
