Matetsi managed to get off Domaris as a young man to join the Scouts. He found himself returning after only four years, other cultures were not to his liking. On his return he found much changed, and for the worse. He resents (if only subconsciously) the effect that off worlders are having on his home. His first commitment now is to the Domaris and the Park, this is his way of making the world better.
Tingaya is a bit of a fool, he’s loud and brash and always hitting things. He does follow the right way though.
Dekos is an odd one, forever having visions. But woe betide anyone who disbelieves anything dekos says- he knows the land.
Kindu is an embittered man, constantly seeking recognition for his worth, for all he is a good vet, he needs to work on his self esteem. He also has the touch of an off worlder.

Tingaya is a boy with cool toys. Someone gave him a gun, and he’s going to wave it around and then shoot it. He thinks he must be pretty great if the Park has given him all this cool stuff just to wander round with. Great.
The Boss is a cold cookie, he’s often spouting about how these "off worlders" are ruining the planet. I don’t see much of that.
Kindu has lost some of what it takes to be native, he was away for too long and has forgotten what the ancestors taught. He knows animals, but…..
Dekos, now there’s an odd one. He knows the jungle better than anyone, and his visions are always right. A cool guy, if a bit mysterious.

Kindu is the teams vet, dealing with all the animals and plants they meet. He left Domaris to learn the skills and gain recognition as more than just a native. He succeeded, but when he returned he was a stranger to the ways of the planet and has had to prove himself again. He feels bitter about this, but tries at every opportunity to prove his worth both as a vet and as a Domarinese.
The boss has been through the same thing but has come out a bitter and twisted man. He wants to do good, but not when his heart is wrong.
Tangaya is a boy filled with the first flush of adulthood, and prone to a bit of craziness, but his heart is in the right place. A few years and he will mature well, given the right guidance…
Dekos is a real fruitcake. He knows the jungle like the back of his hand, but only in the native cosmology. He places too much emphasis on the ancestors, but he is right frighteningly often. He cannot be trusted with all his old wives cures and folklore, his luck has to run out soon.

The jungle is my home, I have been part of it all my life and it is part of me. It has revealed some secrets to me, as have my ancestors yet there is much still to learn. I breathe with the same heart as the jungle and it shows me others as myself. I am but a part and the jungle must be protected as it lives, and that is more important to me than my life.
Matetsi’s spirit is broken. It is twisted and cold from a lifetime of hate, and a hating spirit can do little good. Much is wrong but hatred achieves nothing.
Tangaya has much learning to do. He is still young in the ways of the land and in the ways of the ancestors. He can learn for his spirit is still pure.
Kindu’s spirit was almost broken, but is now searching for strength through learning. He wants to learn, but only from books and knowledge comes from the world and the ancestors. His spirit lacks the strength and yet still perseveres.
