Gone
I know what you've been going through
I know just how you feel
I know the empty place inside
you think will never heal
I know the desolation
of a dream that can not be
I know the lonely aching,
the pain and misery
I know the raw cold hand of grief
the hot sting of your tears
the hopes of all tomorrows
upon a funeral bier
You dared to hope that this time
the purest joy was found
you flew upon the wings of light
now lie crushed upon the ground
the touch that will not ever be
the smile you will never see
the trust destroyed, all torn and tattered
the hope consumed, in ashes scattered
I will weep for your soul's loss
and taste the bitter grief and pain
perhaps we both can see this through
But dare not ever hope again
I can not face another loss
I can not feel this grief again
I will not allow the thing
that always brings this bitter pain
The world will see my smiling face
will hear my laughter, think it's true
I'll never show the pain inside
I'll hide it well from even you
You'll never know the empty places
that consume my heart with grief
I'll laugh and talk and be with friends
but I will keep the visits brief
And maybe some day I will smile
Perhaps I will not wear a lie
And maybe some day I will find
someone to love me, before I die
