Central   North   Carolina   School   for   the   Deaf

Central NC School f/t Deaf (CNCSD) is one of NC's three schools for the deaf. Deaf and Hard of Hearing children attend one of the three schools Pre-K through high school. But CNCSD does not have high school so after the 8th grade the kids have choices of going to the other two NC schools, the Modern Secondary School f/t Deaf (MSSD) in Washington, DC, or local public school if interpreters and other services are provided as well. The classes are taught by teacher (Deaf and hearing) using sign language. CNCSD opened in 1975 when I began kindergarten there. Then I taught the 5th grade for one year, and 6th grade science and math, 7th grade language arts, and 8th grade science the second year. Here are links to MSSD, NC School f/t Deaf in western NC, and schools in other states.
