It all started when Howie, A.J., & Nick were striving for a career in the music industry. (They were all very young at the time, were talking early '90's.) Well, they kept bumping into each other at auditions. All of them had acting, dancing, or singing experiences. They started harmonizing together, when they met up at auditions. Pretty soon it became apparent to the trio that their sound was exciting. They decided to add more members to make a group. The boys seeked out someone that could help them.
Louis Pearlman, a successful buisness man with a great love of music was interested. "He was looking for talent so we went in and auditioned for him," says Howie. "He suggested we extend the group to five members."
Meanwhile, Kevin Richardson, a native of Lexington Kentucky had moved down to Orlando to pursue a dream of his own. He worked at Orlando's MGM as Aladin for the tourists. Armed with his keyboard Kevin dreamed of becoming a singer/songwriter. He heard about the soon-2-be Backstreet Boys search for 2 new members, and he auditioned for the group.
"There were 2 other members who didn't work out & I replaced 1 of them." Kevin reveals. So, that same day Kevin calls his cousin Brian and tells him about the group. (by the way this is during school and Brian is in his U.S. History class.) Well, Brian flys into O-town, auditions, and makes the group!
