XK140- 1955-56
Produced 1954-57 in the same three body styles as the 120, but
the Fixed Head and Drop Head became four-seaters.

The XK140 grille has 7 vertical bars and there is a chrome strip
on the bonnet and bootlid. The front badge is part of the grille
and says "XK140" with no cat head. The leaping cat ornament may
have been optional. The front and rear bumpers are heavier than
on the 120, and have vertical bumper guards and a central flat
area for license plates. There are round clear or amber turn
signals just above the front bumpers. The windshield is two piece
flat glass. The bootlid ends above the rear bumper. The red badge
on the bootlid reads "LeMans Winner 1951-53". The taillights are
a red plastic oblong domed lens shared with all other BMC cars of
the era. The C-type cylinder head was available as an option, as
was overdrive or even an automatic transmission. C-head cars were
known in America as XK140-MC. Disc wheels and skirts are more the
exception than the rule.
The roadster has side curtains and no outside door handles. The
instrument panel is covered in leather.
The Fixed Head has pushbutton outside door handles, but the DHC
has the same umbrella door handles as the XK120 FHC and DHC. The
instrument panel and door cappings on both FHC and DHC are walnut
veneer
