My personal "insight" on the tracks:
Kaboom, the first time I heard this song was on a bootlet from the loring park last summer. I fell in love with it right a way, it has a hip baseline and great synthyness. I don't want to over anylyze any of the songs but this one is basically sex vs. love kind of thing.
What has happened? beats me, this song takes me away from the normal 12 Rods song, clocking in at just under 3 minutes and proably the most radio friendly of all the tracks, (surprise surprise that it's the first single.) It's kind of popish but and allthough i like it very much, it's proably my least favorite of the album. (which should tell you how good the album is)
Astrogimp, What can i say, i'm sure a lot of you have heard this one if you see them live. It's a great song that's all i can say, i love the synth especially.
Radioaction, another good song with great synthsound, the mix with everything is great, what else can i say will this song get any radio action, i don't know if it's gonna be a single i was just making a play on words.
I Think I'm Flying, the drug anthem of the album, well anthem may not be the best word, but it's about drugs anyway. I love the guitar part on this song, the mix is also great i guess Todd Rundgren really knows his stuff.
Your Secret's Safe w/ me, well i can add this one to my mix of songs with cricket samples, a very slow erie kinda song, i really enjoy this one too, weird i guess if you want a review from a non fan you should go to a different site.
Marionette, all i have to say is why wasn't this song the first single. I can imagine this going like #1 in a second it's such a fun and awesome, radio friendly song thats much better than 'What has happened?' in my opinion.
You Gotta Go, this song so much reminds me of the Deftones song 'Drive (Far away)' or something in everyway the lyrics, the music everything, it's better though.
Everybody, at this point this is my favorite song on the album, starting out, it reminds me of 80's new wave stuff with the bass and synth but turns a bit rockish when the guitar and drums come in. I just love it so much.
Rock'n'Roll band, sounds more like a country band to me with the slide guitar (which is great) and the 3/4 flow. I don't know what to think about this i enjoy the song a lot, it's not like any 12Rods song i've heard before, and it's the longest song on the album at 7:14. It's slow but good, i'm running out of interesting things to say.
Repeat, Now i'm not sure but i think this song is on the 1993 hometown tape 'bliss' i'm not sure i can't locate my copy. But clearly it's been updated, instrumentaly this is probably the best song on the album.
Glad That It's Over, oddly enough this song reminds me of "break stuff." only a lot better and less violent and testosteron driven. Basically the perfect album closer possible.
The album as a whole is a step in an all new direction. At first I thought that it was a lot different, but i've found that most of the song's are simialar to split personalities' songs. The main difference is in the sound mixing. If anything it was a little overdone. This Album is much more studio sounding that split, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. But still it's a great album you should all go get as soon is it comes out. Which i'm not sure anymore if it's June 20th or July 21st. But anyway it's good.
