A Minute Late (10 Days Late)

When I heard the phrase late in this song I totally thought of my first period teacher sophomore year in high school when she nailed people for being late.  Class started bright and early at 7:45 AM and if you were there at 7:46 you were BUSTED.  I could tell you this from personal experience since I am in no way a morning person.   So when I heard this song I thought I would take the trip I do not want to take back to high school to write about this song

Open your eyes

And you must come here

Seriously they've got something dumb to teach me

In the classroom

Talk back in the classroom

There's no simple way

To let you know

Stupid how she always takes attendance

The moment the bell rings

I'm in trouble now

and it cannot wait

I'm a minute late

Yes, my life got complicated

But class can wait

To sit this through

I'm a minute late

A minute late

Rushed cars go cruising by

I feel

I know the reason why

They're going to get in trouble

Consequence and detention

Catch a latecomer

Oh no, baby, oh no no

Give me a minute now

To become awake

Oh I know

I'm a minute late

And I don't know

Where to take it

And it's not grate

Knowing you're

Just a minute late

A minute late

(choir) Time has come for you to choose

Detention after school

Teachers referrals come to you

Detention after school (end choir)

I have no idea what to do

I can't lie

I don't know

To the teacher

Talk back at the teacher

Everyone's laughing

Now what do I say

Can't walk away and oh no

Must go

To detention

Must go to detention

Give me a minute now

This is a stupid state

Cause I'm a minute late

This record will never fade

I guess I'll always be

Knowing them

Knowing them

Knowing them
