Knicks 1999 Playoff Run

Knicks 1999 Playoff Run

The Knicks Playoff Run shook NYC and the rest of the world with their great play and exciting basketball. It would only be fair to make a dedication to one of the most exciting months in NBA Playoff History.

Round 1....

Vs.

Game #1-W 95-75
Game #2-L 73-83
Game #3-W 97-73
Game #4-L 72-87
Game #5-W 78-77

This Series had one of the most dramatic endings in NBA history. These two teams had met the previous two years, both teams winning one series. Bost of these series had fights that changed the outcome of them and this built a bitter rivalry. So when it came down to game 5, 4.5 seconds remaining Allan Houston hit an up an under runner with .8 seconds left to win the series by one point.

Round #2....

Vs.

Game #1-W 100-92
Game #2-W 77-70
Game #3-W 90-78
Game #4-W 79-66

This was a complete blowout, the only time the Hawks even threatened was second quarter in game 1 when they tied it up. Sprewell and Houston finally started playing well together. The most memorable play of the series was in the 4th Quarter of Game 2 when Marcus Camby thundered it down over Mutumbo.

Round 3....

Vs.

Game #1-W 93-90
Game #2-L 86-88
Game #3-W 92-91
Game #4-L 78-90
Game #5-W 101-94
Game #6-W 90-82

Indiana has been New Yorks biggest rivalry in the 90's except Chicago. This was the defining series of the Rivalry as the Knicks won in 6 games. Patrick Ewing was injured in Game 2 after missing the game tying shot at the buzzer. LJ's 4 point play in the closing moments of game 3 which gave New York the series tie breaking win was one of the most memorable moments in New York Knick history. After the Game 6 win the Knicks stayed on the court an extra hour celebrating with the fans while people all through NYC beeped their horns and screamed "We did It, We're In the Finals!!".

Even though the Knicks lost they are still my champions. I bought the Eastern Conference Champions T-Shirt for a remberance of this Playoff Run. I am very proud of what this team accomplished and I am looking forward to next season. The Spurs were just too tall for us. That is why we drafted 7-2 Frederic Weis.
