Bob Fischer* writes: "I shot this on 21 JUL 1969. The band had finshed playing a 'Change of Command' ceremony for your outfit 2/47. If you recall, the chopper pad was outside the main gate. We were waiting for a pick up." *SP-5 Robert F. Fischer HHC & Band DISCOM 9th Infantry Division January through August 1969 Bob also wrote: "I played trumpet with the division band. We traveled throughout IV CTZ playing memorial services, concerts, and awards ceremonies anywhere and everywhere there were "Old Reliables" dug in. The band was billeted at division HQ in Dong Tam. In the field (or on the road -- musically speaking) we provided our own security and were armed as light infantry." |
