A retired NYPD officer was indicted yesterday on murder charges for allegedly shooting his ex-wife last month at a park-and-ride lot on Staten Island. John Galtieri, 61, was arrested Jan. 31 in South Carolina as he drove back to his home in Punta Gorda, Fla., about 16 hours after he allegedly killed Jeanne Kane, 58.
A surveillance camera captured the moment when the former cop gunned down his ex-wife, police sources said.
Galtieri appears on the tape pulling his car alongside Kane as she waited to pick up their daughter at the West Shore Expressway park-and-ride, the sources said.
In the 10-count indictment, Galtieri was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree weapons possession and first-degree stalking. He also is facing several misdemeanor charges. He is fighting extradition to New York.
