The person now going by the name of Killjoy in the ISL was originally from the planet of Badaab. A small agriculturally oriented planet with very few contacts with the rest of the universe. The exact events of what happened are not known but a rudimentary sketch is made with the help of a few diaries and other tidbits of information left on the planet.
It all started to go wrong on Badaab when due to heavy rain for two years in a row the foodproduction fell short of demand.
In the second year an apocalyptic Cult spread like wildfire, initially blaming any non-humans. In a chain-reaction of events the Cultists went from killing aliens to killing non-believing humans. In a few months the remaining civilisation was utterly destroyed. Cultist-warbands were roaming the sole continent of Badaab, killing all non-believers. And probably a lot of other cultists too, just in case. During all these months it never ceased to rain...
When the outside world landed on Badaab they found nothing but mud, water and bodies. A last patrol they sent out was attacked by a single boy, approximately 16 or 17 years of age. He was the sole survivor of Badaab.
After a few attempts they gave up the idea of trying to make him fit into society again. Whatever had happened to him was too severe. Tests indicated that his intelligence was actually slightly above average but a lot of the time he was locked in a constant rage, a constant killing frenzy. He is able to speak whenever in a 'calm' mood. Unfortunately that does not happen very often.
His usual mental state is best compared with a hungry, wounded animal.
Hence the name 'Killjoy'
