On 4/8/01 the world mourned the passing of this wonderfully talented singer/songwriter musician. Van died at his home in Nashville of Melanoma. Van's musical legacy lives on through the hearts of many.

Henry, Dave and Van are the founders of BlackHawk. They formed the group in 1992 and initially embarked on a small tour under the name "FireHawk". It was after Van saw the name 'BlackHawk Printing' on a truck that the name of the group was changed. The name "Dustbowl Romeos" was considered, among others but "BlackHawk" is much more fitting. Henry's love for music and in those talented musicians that have surrounded him throughout the years is very apparent if you've ever listened to any of the recordings. And if you've ever seen any of BlackHawk's videos from the early through late 90's, his love for style is equally apparent. Those kick-ass (Civil War style) jackets were designed by him and a lady named Beverlee Brannigan. The tight three-part harmony sound of BlackHawk in the beginning, continuing on today is unsurpassed and to say I am a fan for life is an understatement.

Through the musical endeavors of these wonderful musicians, the following albums were produced. To date, "Spirit Dancer" is my favorite because it is a remarkable tribute to Van and other friends but I love them all. "BlackHawk" (1994), "Strong Enough" (1995), "Love and Gravity" (1997), "The Sky's The Limit" (1998), "Greatest Hits" (2000) and "Spirit Dancer" (2002).
