A Review...by Laura (10/4/03)

What a night! It is hard to try to put it all into words but I will try. The first show was wonderful and the guys all looked so good it took my breath away The set list was as follows:

Every Once In Awhile
Love Like This
Not Strong Enough To Say No
Goodbye
Knoxville Girl
Brothers Of The Southland
Sure Can Smell The Rain
There You Have It
Postmarked Birmingham
Just About Right
Big Guitar
Encore: Days Of America

All of these songs were incredible, Brothers of the Southland and Just About Right blew me away Henry, Dave, Jimmy, Chris, John, Kirk, Anthony and last but not least..Louis!!! You guys gave the finest performance I have EVER seen!! Anthony is an incredible addition to this band. His energy and personality shine! His harmonies are wonderful and his chemistry with the other band members is obvious. He looked like he was having a great time and I loved watching him perform. Did you know he also does impressions?

So the first show was GREAT and then the meet and greet which was wonderful (my first ) Then a few minutes break and the 2nd show began. This was when the party started By this time I had my share of red wine (I am feeling it today ) so the details may be a little out of order but here goes. There were a couple of young, blond beauties named Amber who had big eyes for Dave and brought to the stage and lined up 7 shots called "Scoobie Snacks" Dave passed but the other guys took part in the festivities. Things loosened up and we got to enjoy Dave singing a little bit of a gospel tune and then an incredible rendition of "Sail Away" an old tune by Styx (I'm pretty sure ) It left us all wanting more, he was great!!! Then another round of "Scoobie Snacks" arrived, a few more songs, and Henry told a great joke about Mighty Mouse....You will have to ask him about that one as I cannot repeat it here Then another round of "Scoobie Snacks" (Dave, Amber loves you!!) A couple of impressions by Anthony and an incredible version of "So Long" Just when I thought things could never get any better than this, they did!! Encore time.

By this time Henry was wearing Dave's hat and had a lit cigarette stuck in his guitar. Anthony had jumped in to Jimmy's seat without missing a beat (No pun intended ) and began to play the heck out of those drums!! He also plays a mean mandolin. By the way both Henry and Anthony were playing the mandolin. You should have heard "Just About Right" I cannot even begin to describe how great it was!! Then Louis joined in on the guitar. I found myself standing at the stage with all those young girls screaming and dancing like there was no tomorrow (Hope I did'nt make a fool out of myself)

Today my hands are sore from clapping so much, My voice is almost gone from screaming and singing so much, a blister on my toe from my new black boots and a killer hangover and I would do it again in a minute just to be able to experience it one more time. As the guys were checking out this morning I ran into Anthony in the lobby and told him again how much I enjoyed the shows and how happy I was that he has become a part of Blackhawk. What a nice guy!! I asked him how he was doing this morning and he said "I don't know what was in those "Scoobie Snacks" but I'm sure feeling it this morning" and so that is my review. I felt honored to be there listening to that incredible music and everyone felt the same way. It left us all wanting more! So if you were to ask me to summarize my feelings into one word I would have to say that I feel "Mesmerized".

There are the pearly gates and then there's this!
