A review............
No, it's not BlackHawk and no it's not country but it's the finest Southern Rock I've ever heard and it's Henry, Hughie, David Dix, Monte Yoho, Chris Anderson, Randy Threet and Dave Robbins...some of THE most talented artists to grace any stage!!! I've seen the Outlaws reunion tour twice now and I was even more impressed the second time!!! As excited as I get over the thought of seeing BH, the roar of the bass intro to (Ghost) Riders in the Sky catapulted me right back to Sept. 8, 1998. The first time I saw them, they trotted onto the stage like fine stallions. Sunday night at the House of Blues, the curtains were drawn and they were postioned onstage. Without mercy the FL guitar army turned around to greet the audience and punished us sweetly. It's like being on a roller coaster ride with the high school quarterback...it's thrilling and yet you feel safe because you know he's not going to let anything happen to you.
For only the second time ever, being too close had it's downside. We stood right at the stage and it was sometimes hard to hear the vocals but luckily it was fine when Chris sang "Prisoner"...it was totally sweet. Occasionally I glanced around at the other fans and I had a slight inclination to get a tatoo. LOL Seriously though, it was great seeing Mike(who I'd met in CT), Chris A. and getting Monte's autograph. I still have to get David Dix's to complete the original 4. The guys didn't stick around long after the show because of Hurricane Wilma but I did see Chris (BH's road manager) onstage working the sound board and Kirk who I think (from my hotel room) was sprinting for the bus! The set list was as follows:
It killed me not to be able to take photos! I was prepared but it was not to be. Room 998 was prepared to party but you can never predict anything accurately!! I guess getting older does have it's drawbacks.
