Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas
Now Rozanda adds something very special to TLC. Musically, she brings each track together, even if its just the chorus she's singing or the smallest background vocals, her soothing harmonies come from her incredible talent as an r&b vocalist. Rozanda was born on February 27th, 1971 (Pisces) in Atlanta, Georgia and claims her proudest accomplishments are "remaining level headed and becoming successful". Chilli tells us of her childhood past, "I grew up in the projects, but I had my big momma and she kept me out of trouble. So when I was in situations, I was like, oh, I got to get out of this and a lot of kids don't have that I'm extremely sensitive, but my mom toughened me up because I would cry at the drop of a hat and I couldn't understand why you wouldn't want to love me back or hug me back; or don't want to say you love me." Rozanda Thomas. As a profession she started out as a dancer for Damian Dame and became noticed for her fantastic voice. Pebbles, while putting together TLC, added Rozanda as the "C" for "Chilli" to the group because she "adds all the hot sauce". And once you see a TLC video, you would know that for sure. Rozanda is very beautiful. She was on People's "1996 50 Most Beautiful" issue.
Ýsaid, "When you look different it is a big deal, all the girls wanted to beat me up, pull my hair. A lot of people would wonder what I was mixed with, and I never knew because I didn't know my dad." (After finding her dad she expresses how she feels--) " I feel complete." Whenever TLC is interviewed, you'll know they are all silly, and that they crack up at eachother's jokes all the time and Chilli is one of the craziest of the group. "It's funny--people get us all wrong. Everybody looks at Lisa and thinks, Oh, man she is really crazy. But I am the crazy one! I'm the one who's always trippin', trying to be the center of it all. And Tionne? Well she's the sexy one because she's so prissy and such a girl. Now Lisa? She is cool. When we hang she's always much more laid-back." She shares a great respect for her loving mother and had always planned to be a mother since she was only 19 and now she is! Rozanda is the proud mother of a little boy named Tron, the boy's father is writer-producer Dallas Austin. When talking about her own mother she says, "Mom had me when she was 17. She could have easily said,'Let me get on welfare.'
Instead she finished school. I want to be just like my mother. Everything she has, she got on her own." Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas is currently working with Left-Eye and T-Boz on upcoming videos and remixes for the group's new music from their long awaited third album "FanMail". TLC's first single is "No Scrubs", currently getting lots of airplay on radios all over the U.S. and Chilli is performing the lead vocals on this song, its like her solo. Remember her solo from CrazySexyCool? This one's even better. Rozanda if you read this I just want to let you know you are a huge inspiration and I think you are singing beautiful, soothing music straight from the heart. T-Boz talking about Chilli, "Miss Chilli is a very sweet person just like Left-Eye was saying before, she's like one of the people that's always giving massages always gotta be lovin', you know, especially when I'm in a bad mood, she's just gonna make me feel better, even when I don't want to, she'll just be like 'Girl----' and make me laugh when I don't wanna smile." Left-Eye talking about Chilli, "Miss Chilli is miss personality, she is---you would like Chilli too, you would probably fall in love with Chilli in the first 5 minutes, cuz she's raw open, make you feel at home, even if you're new to the camp, she can help you out with your problems, she can make you feel good about yourself, she's very affectionate, but just at the same time she's the type of person who would want that love and affection back.That ís Chillli."
