Chapter 16

(Brian's-point-of-view)

"Brian, how are we getting to the hospital?"

Hospital? That was the last place I wanted to be. "Um...I dunno, Nick."

Nick turned to my cousin. "Do you know, Kevin?"

He shook his head. "I don't know, Kaos, sorry."

The blonde glanced at my cousin who fought to control his tears. "Kevin, why don't you just cry if you need to? Lou Pearlman isn't around to stop you."

Kevin stood roughly. "I do not need to cry!"

That's a matter of opinion. I shifted nervously from side-to-side. "I don't think we should go to the hospital."

"What?" Nick exclaimed. "He's our friend and he's hurt!"

"It doesn't matter. They'd just have us sit in the waiting room forever and a day. How are we to help out that way?"

"It's amazing what simply being there can do for a person," Nick stated setting his jaw.

I was stunned. Obviously, the conflicts with his family were deeper than I thought. "We'll go tomorrow morning," I assured him.

"Yeah, YOU'LL go tomorrow!" Nick shouted. "I'm going NOW!"

I massaged my temples as he stormed out of the rehearsal space. "Think we v should go after him?" I asked Kevin.

"Let the kid blow off some steam. And if he really wants to go the hospital, one of the crew members will hook him up."

I nodded agreeingly. I shivered as I recalled the ambulance that I had just seen and the ambulance that always stood outside the arena prepared to save my life if the chance arrived. Unknowingly I began to trace the scar with my index finger.

Kevin rested a hand on my shoulder. "Bri, that scar is on your skin. Not inside your heart."
