Ch.13

"Stay inside the lines," Angel reminded me.
I had been drafted to color with the twins when the other three children refused. Aaron glanced at my picture. "Hey! You colored Santa in a black suit!"
"I like black."
"But Santa wears red- duh!"
Duh? I really hate that word. "Well, we won't hang this one up then."
BJ entered. "Hey, BJ! Wanna' make some Christmas cookies with me?" Angel asked.
"Sure, sweetie." She said that so gently. Had hell frozen over? "Why don't you finish coloring your picture; and I'll get the supplies ready."
I laid down my black crayon. "Well, I'm done."
"Cool, Kevin, you made Santa look like a rapper," Angel commented.
Well, at least my picture was unique. Nick joined us as he carried Leslie on his back. She laid down beside me. "I feel icky."
I sighed. "I know."
"But you should be feeling better in a few days. And you can stay home until then, and we can watch all of your favorite Christmas movies," Nick chimed in.
"'Frosty'?"
Frosty. Oh, man, I was sure getting excited thinking about it. Thanks, Nick.
A few days of peppy, cheery cartoons. Wait maybe not, Angel was feeling better in a little less than a day, so, Leslie should be coming around soon. Eventually, BJ's stay with womanhood would end. And every now and then Aaron had to sleep. Things were looking up.
