Ch. 3

I took a seat on the couch as I shut my eyes. After fifteen minutes of pleading, I finally convinced the twins to relax. Not an easy task, mind you. I then heard footsteps coming near. I lifted my head up to see a little girl of nine.

"Hi, Kevin," Leslie whispered.

"Hey, darlin', you need something?"

"May I sit beside you and watch tv?"

"Sure. The tube is all yours."

Nick then entered yawning.

"Hey, little man."

The blonde shot me a look of death. 'What?' I mouthed.

He pointed to his younger sister, then resorted to sign language. 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T!' I cleared my throat.

"So, Nickolas, how do you feel this tour went compared to the first?"

"Well," Nick said pausing, "I believe we did an outstanding job, and our career will only blossom from here."

Our career will only blossom from here? Was AJ giving this kid crack or what? My inside joke was ruined by the bickering sounds of Angel and Aaron.

"It's my turn!"

"Nuh-uh!"

"Yuh-huh!"

"What's going on here?"

Aaron crossed his tiny arms. "Angel cheated!"

"I did not!" she spat.

"Did, too!"

Obviously, this conversation was going nowhere. I heard Nick walking up behind me. "Guys, if you don't stop arguing there will be no nintendo. Now figure out a way to settle this or turn it off."

He said so simply and with such ease. Perhaps kid I had nicknamed 'Bratty One' wasn't so bad afterall.

Nick faced me. "I'm gonna' go take a nap. Don't bother waking me."

"Nick, I have to wake you up. You need your dinner."

"Kev, I've had your cooking before no need to wake me."

Okay, the term 'Bratty One' was now back in use.
