Welcome Back - By Amy
Ch.1

"Argh," I sighed as I threw the remote against the couch in disgust. "What on earth is wrong, Kevin?" my girlfriend Kristin asked as she made herself comfortable beside me.

"I'm so sick of hearing British accents on all of the damn tv shows!"

"Well, Kev, when you're in England that's bound to happen. What has you so uptight? You're acting like a bear."

"Grrr...I am not!"

"Excuse me? Did you or did you not just growl?"

All right, maybe she did have a point. She tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder resting her eyes upon me. "You can tell me what it is."

"Everything. We were all so happy. Lou said we were going back to the states over next week."

"Well, that's great. What's the downfall?"

"We're going for a week. And that's just so we can meet with various companies to show off our success in Europe. No time to see Kentucky or....." I cut off my sentence. Why complain? It wouldn't change anything.

"Oh, baby, I'm sorry. You''ll be Florida, won't you?"

"Yeah. Just Florida. Lou just wants to rub it in the faces of ex-business partners."

"I have an idea!"

"What, buy the man a Slim Fast?"

"No," she giggled. "You should stay with Nick and his family."

"What?!"

"I'm serious."

"Why?"

"Well, last time they really enjoyed your company. They adore you, and you can't stay uptight around those five loveable children."

No, I couldn't stay uptight around those five "loveable" children, because I was too busy being furious. "Kristin, I don't think so."

"Oh, come on, what's so bad about them? Nick will probably sleep the whole time. BJ is a teenage girl- she'll be at the mall and parties. Leslie and Angel are complete sweethearts. And Aaron--"

Aaron! I faced her. "Have you heard the 'Barney' theme song?"

"No."

"Then you couldn't possibly understand."

She allowed her slim fingers to run up and down my spine. "Oh, come on, it'll be fun. I'll come spend a day with you."

"That's still six days."

"Kevin, we both know it will be good for you. Besides, don't you think Mrs.Carter would like some time alone with her husband? Don't you think they'd like some time together?"

"Don't you think she'd want to spend time with her other four children? They have five children- they've had enough time alone together."

"Kevin!"

No, not the puppy eyes. I swear, she taught Leslie how to do that. "Fine! I'll look into it."
