Ch. 10
"Kevin, this bites!" Aaron wailed. "All of the people on this street are giving out healthy stuff!"
Kristin took his hand as we crossed the street. "It'll save you a trip to the dentist."
"But I want candy!"
I rolled my eyes. "Cry me a river."
Angel glanced up at me. "Could someone really do that, Kevin? Cry a river?"
Kristin laughed. "It's just a phrase, honey."
Leslie adjusted her apron. "Kevin, are you and Kristin going to take your kids out on Halloween?"
I paused. "Well.....um, we have to get married first."
"So, you can do that."
"Well, yeah, someday we could...."
Kristin clenched her teeth. "Why do you sound so unsure, sweetheart?"
"Because we've never discussed marriage, dear."
"Oh, but, honey, you were engaged to Beth."
"That was different."
"How?"
I ran my hands through my hair. "Um....let's not have this discussion in front of the kids."
"Man!" Aaron whined. "It was just getting good! I thought she was going to yell at you and make you cry!"
I snarled. "I do not cry."
Kristin bit her lip. "You might after tonight."
I gulped. Suddenly, I felt my manhood was being tested. And, somehow, I had a feeling she might win.
Leslie giggled. "Would you like me to buy you a bone, Kevin?"
"Why?"
"Because you're in the dog house!"
Beware world! First, Backstreet Boy: Nick Carter! Now: Leslie Carter ten-year-old comedian. Grrrrreat....
Kristin even laughed. "Good one, sweetheart."
"Yeah," I grumbled.
"Chocolate!" Aaron shouted looking at the house infront of us. "Good stuff!"
"Yes!" his sisters shouted in unison as they ran to the home.
I gave Kristin a hug. "Do I get any candy?"
She growled. "After you tell me about the candy Beth gave you."
