THE BASICS

VOCABULARY

This page is a first step towards understanding WEB-TV and the internet. The Vocabuary are words you will see used many times and therefore must be understood.

The first thing you should make time to do is to take the TOUR offered by WEB-TV. This feature uses Audio & graphics to walk you through the fetures of the unit. To find the Tour, go to your HOME sceen and look at the column at the left of the screen. Select "Using WEB-TV". Next select "Take the Tour". This is a informative feature and will get you started on understanding your unit.

A second feature that will teach you about your Unit is the "INSTRUCTIONS" section found under "USING WEB-TV" It is my recomendation that you take the time to read ALL of these pages. Most of the common questions asked by new users are answered in these sections.

NAVIGATION

Before you can enjoy WEB-TV at it's best, learning the keys and functions is critical. Using the remote wireless Keyboard is the most common way to use WEB-TV. CLassic Users have the ability to plug in a standard wired keyboard, which for my money is the very best way, if you write lot of e-mail, or are creating a web-page. The Jack in the back of the Classic unit for the wired Keyboard is a 7 pin jack, and an adapter is available at eletronics stores.
The Alphabet & numbers are setup as any Typewriter or Keyboards are. The Keys unique to WEB-TV will be covered below.

Starting at the top left of the remote keyboard:
1) ESC- No use at this time

2)F-1 thru F-7- These keys can be programed by you as SHORTCUTS to frequently visited Web-sites.This is done in the FAVORITES SECTION. Instructions for this feature will be given on the FAVORITES page of this web-site.

3) FAVS- this key will take you to your Favorite Files.

4) HOME- This takes you right back to your Homepage.

5) SEARCH- This pulls up the SEARCH screen, where you type in what subject you want to find websites about.

6) MAIL- This key takes you directly to your mail list.

7) FIND- Allows you to find a certain word or phrase with in a section of text. This is used frequently in the CUT/COPY/PASTE function.

8) INFO- This key will give you the Address or "URL" of the page you are viewing.

9) GO TO- This key pulls up a screen where you can enter a web-site address, and go there immediately. This is very handy when you see a web-address on TV for a certain product or show. Also it has 2 boxes below named SHOW LAST and SHOW CURRENT. These are used frequently during Transloading Images & Music to your web-site. Or to find the ULR of a Song ( by pressing Show Last) or a graphic or page (by pressing Shw Current) The CLEAR button will erase the entry in the box.

10) SAVE- this key is used to save a web-site you have found, and are currently viewing for future visits. This places web-sites into your FAVORITES. Therefore it is Important to set up files of your intrests before you do much surfing. You can Build 20 Folders that will hold 32 web-sites. Common Titles may include Music/ Finances/ games/pets/movies&TV/. Most web-sites can not be read or enjoyed in one visit. SAVING them will allow easy access.

11) SEND- this allows you to send a web-site to a friend by E-mail. Simply press, and a screen will appear with the TO: box in which you may type in the persons E-mail address. If they are recorded in your ADDRESS BOOK, simply "Highlight" TO: with the yellow box, press RETURN and your ADDRESS BOOK will appear. Move down the list with your CURSOR to the persons name. Check their name by pressing RETURN. You can Check more than one person. IF you want to add a brief message to them explaining what the site is, "Highlight" EDIT MESSAGE and press RETURN. This will pull up a blank E-mail page, with the WEB-SITE linked at the bottom of the letter in BLUE. Type your message and then Highlight SEND and press RETURN.******HINT: There is no need to HIGHLIGHT SEND, simply press RETURN TWICE*******
