ROBERT is a health and wellness consultant and a NYS licensed massage therapist. New York Magazine (12/95) lists him among the city's very best, most effective massage therapists. He excels at deep tissue, penetrating massage, and is reputed to have "the strongest hands in New York." Robert is also an energetic healer, with his own unique methods.

MANY PEOPLE with very difficult or seemingly insoluble health and emotional problems have found great benefit from his healing hands individualized counseling. ROBERT GRADUATED from the Swedish Institute of Massage and Allied Health Sciences in 1988, license no. 4385. Licensure is by the New York State Board of Education, renewed every three years. New York has the most medically rigorous massage standards of any state.

LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPISTS always display their licenses. Especially when dealing with medical issues, it's best to rely on trained professionals. The Swedish Institute program has strong emphasis on anatomy & physiology using premed level texts.

INTERVIEW. Robert first asks a series of standard interview questions, just as any other health professional would. Questions about injuries, medications, illnesses, etc.

DRAPING. Swedish massage is normally done with most but not necessarily all the client's clothing removed. But the client is covered at all times with a towel. The towel is pulled aside to partially uncover one body area at a time, that area is worked on, then the towel is replaced and the massage therapist moves on to the next area. Robert always steps out of the treatment room while clients are undressing, or getting dressed thereafter.

PERSONAL CHOICE. It is always up to the client whether or not he/she feels comfortable removing a particular item of clothing. Shiatsu massage can be done with the client fully dressed. Some clients new to massage choose this as their first time option, until they become more familiar with and comfortable with it.

MODESDY. People vary in their level of modesty, and familiarity with massage, and Robert adjusts the manner of the massage accordingly. He is very practiced at helping people become comfortable with massage who may not have been to a massage therapist before. Massage therapy is done on a professional massage table with a face cradle for the comfort of the client while lying face down.

HIS MASSAGE STYLE is usually strong, fast, deep and vigorous, mostly Swedish with some Shiatsu (acupressure). But for some clients he takes a very different approach, depending on individual need. With his enhanced perception, he knows without even touching which body tissues or acupoints most need work, and in what way.

USING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL CONCEPT of body energies, he manipulates muscle tissues superficially or deeply, as needed. "Tapping shock waves" break up the deepest energy blocks where hands cannot reach. Completing the three-dimensional process, the auric field is balanced in multiple layers, with both positive and negative polarities. Robert's bodywork is indeed very thorough! Clients come from all walks of life.

HEALING HANDS. Since 1988, Robert has incorporated energetic healing into his bodywork. He consciously controls all aspects of the healing process thru guided visualization. Gradually going up a scale of healing force, the energy flow is increased until an optimal intensity level is reached.

EVERY HEALING ELEMENT is selectively and precisely chosen. Among these are: what portions of the field to heal, how much force to transmit, in what sequence, and for how long. The cost is based on how long it takes to do each healing. As Robert often brings up the intensity of his field to a very high level, it is often possible to accomplish much in 10-15 minutes.

ROBERT'S OFFICE is in a luxury high-rise with doorman in a safe area. The IRT Lexington Avenue 4, 5, and 6 trains stop at 86th Street. Exit, walk 3 blocks east on 86th Street, the area's main shopping district, to 1st Avenue. Turn left, walk three blocks to the ground level office for the ESP Center near the corner of 89th Street and 1st Avenue.
