PADANNAMAKKEL FAMILY

(Kanjirappally, India)

Descendants of Chandapilla Padannamakkel

By Padannamakkel Joseph Mathew

III.Eleyamma,

Eleyamma married Varkey Inchikkalayil. Varkey died at his home here in Erumely, on 1976, aged 97.Burial was in the St. Thomas church cemetery in Erumely, Kerala.

We call her Peramma, and she is a lady with spirit and humorous. She was the third among her five siblings and the oldest daughter of her parents.

Once Viceroy and Divan passed towards Kanjirappally. Kanjirappally of that time was a very little village. There were few cars running on the roads, few people, less pollution...briefly speaking a whole different picture what we can see now. She and her brother Mathew threw a rotten egg on the car of Viceroy. The policemen drove out the car and hunted up to trap these children. But children managed to hide in the pocket of a tree. The police could not grab them.

She grew up with compassion and love until her mother died. Her mother died when she was eleven years of old. And this young girl was the all time best housewife in the Universe. She was the main caretaker of the bereaved family and households. One of the greatest characteristics of Peramma was that she was a great cook. Her favorite 'Cheera' curry was widely known among members of her joint family.

At the age of thirteen she married Inchikkalla Perappan. There was a difference in age between her and her husband. She was not very satisfied with this incident of her marriage at her childhood. Her husband was sick a very long time before his death. She had the difficult moment at the time of the death of her husband.
