Padannamakkel Roots

Introduction, a little bit about me

Source: Based on

Vazhavely home manuscripts,

author is believed to be Chandapilla Padannamakkel, AD. 1662 (In Nanam Monam dialect)
1st generation: Thommi, Periyaveettil (AD 1328?) emigrated from Nilackal, Chayal. Thommi and his people escaped from Nilackal, Chayal from an unknown disaster (Vakkripulipatta) and bought the land at Pazhorthodam, near Palappara, Kanjirappally. Thommi stands as the first great father for many of our Kanjirappally families. History says that he brought the statues of Akkara umma (Mary) and Mahesa (Jesus) from Nilackal with the hope of preserving the religion.

The church building was constructed in 1449. The church was blessed by Bishop Mar. Joseph in his auspicious ceremony. The first mass of this church was held on Sept. 8, 1449.
