  • Me, my Dad, my brother Tom, and friends Jon and Wes were on our way to Buffalo. We had no idea what we were in for. It began to hit us at a truck stop when virtualy every guy in the bathroom had a KISS t-shirt on. And if that wasn't enough, turning the corner onto Marine Midland Arena to see the 4 gigantic blow-ups of KISS would.

As we waited outside in a huge line to get in, we would finally take our seats. Left side of stage, top tear. As we walked in you could feel the energy in the air as "The Beautiful People" (Marilyn Manson) played on the PA speakers. Soon the lights would be down and The Deftones were on stage (loud as hell). We all thought they sucked a big fat dick, funny because now I love the Deftones.

Then the lights were down again as search lights moved around the arena . . . . "You Wanted The Best You Got The Best, The Hottest Band In The World . . . . KISS!" I could see Gene Simmons entering the stage from the side, and then the huge white curtain with a black KISS logo on it dropped, and the first explosion scared the shit out of all of us. "Deuce" was in full swing and I had chills.

The concert was unlike anything I had ever seen (my 1st being Def Leppard). I remember Paul saying before "Strutter" "I have heard about the great hills of Upstate New York, but some of the best hills I've seen tonight are right here in the front row!" Gene would fly to the rafters to sing "God Of Thunder". Then as "Rock And Roll All Night" began I was kind of pissed that this rush would soon be over.

KISS exploded of stage and left a foggy arena behind with a "Thank You Buffalo" on the big screens. I new from here on out anyother concert I will attend won't have the same effect and power. Unless it was KISS again, and I couldn't wait for the opportunity to see The Greatest Show On Earth again.
