Paul, in chains, writes to his young friend, Timothy. We are all in chains of one kind or another, but rarely do we have to endure literal chains.

everlasting light..." a phrase to live by.
leads me on my way.
Your everlasting light
brightens my dark moments.
Your everlasting light
frames my joy.
Your everlasting light
clears my muddled mind.
Your everlasting light
hastens my reluctant feet.
Glory to you, Lord, for
Your everlasting light.

The chains around my body are of my own making:
the chains of obesity
the chains of anger and frustration at my job.
These chains can be broken figuratively,
just as Paul's were literally,
by your everlasting love.
Help me to see this;
Help me to remember this;
Help me to walk in your light and love.
