Alexandre Cabanel~La Naissance de Vénus-1870

I Am Your Tenant

I am your tenant
I pay no rent
Inhabiting your every pore
Pressuring you from the core
Of tangled thoughts
With a worrisome warrant
For your unrest
I've got your attention
But I want more
To see you writhe and squirm
Inside out naked in thought
I keep pushing up
As you push me down
Further inward to the bowels
Of your consciousness
I secrete confusion
You wipe me out
But I keep coming as long
As your mind is awakened
By the jolts of terror I send
Through your endings
If you weren't so sensitive to suggestion
It wouldn't be so easy
I prey on your active mind
It never stops thinking
So I come uninvited
Before you realize it
I've moved in
I am your tenant
Oh I pay no rent
You can't evict me
I've got no intent
You are the landlord of your mind
Yet there's always a vacancy
As long as you keep thinking.....
and thinking.....
and thinking.....
and thinking.....
